I’m Jenni McDonough, the photographer behind Jenni with an Eye Photography. I’m a newborn, family, and senior photographer, Scituate native, and a mom who loves capturing all the little expressions and personality that make your child who they are.
My approach to school portraits is simple: create a comfortable, low-pressure experience and capture more than one standard smile. Your child’s gallery may include something sweet, something thoughtful, a big laugh, or a perfectly silly expression. Those are usually the photographs parents end up loving most.

Just a few things to help you
get ready for picture day:
1. You’ll see the photographs before deciding what to purchase.
There are no paper order forms or payments due before Picture Day. Once the galleries are ready, your school will send the private gallery link, password, ordering information, and deadline directly to families.
You can view the photographs first and purchase only what you love. There is no obligation to order.
2. Each child receives a collection of expressions.
Your child will typically have approximately 4 to 8 images in their private album, with every selected image included in both color and black and white.
I photograph more than one “school picture smile.” Depending on your child, you may see a sweet grin, a thoughtful look, a belly laugh, or something wonderfully silly.
3. Smiles are never forced.
Some children walk in ready for the camera. Others need a little extra time, space, or encouragement. I’ll do my best to connect with your child and help them feel comfortable, but I will never force a smile that isn’t there.
Sometimes the quiet, serious expressions become the most meaningful photographs.
4. Tears mean it’s time for a break.
Picture Day can feel unfamiliar, especially for babies, toddlers, and younger preschoolers. If your child becomes upset, I’ll gently try to help them settle. However, I won’t make a crying child remain in front of the camera just to get a photograph.
Because many children are photographed within a limited school schedule, I may not be able to try again later that day. A completed registration does not guarantee photographs if a child is unable or unwilling to participate.
5. Sibling photos are a bonus.
When siblings attend the same school, I’ll do my best to photograph them together in addition to their individual portraits.
Sibling photographs are not guaranteed and depend on timing, the school’s schedule, and how each child is feeling. This can be especially unpredictable with babies and very young children, so individual portraits will always be the priority.
What to Wear
Keep it simple, comfortable, and true to your child.
Soft colors, neutrals, subtle patterns, denim, and textured fabrics photograph beautifully. Small accessories like a bow, barrette, or suspenders can add personality without distracting from your child’s face.
Try to avoid:
Neon or ultra-bright colors
Large logos, wording, or graphics
Tiny stripes or tightly spaced patterns
Anything itchy, uncomfortable, or difficult to move in
Most importantly, choose something your child feels good wearing. The best school portraits happen when children are comfortable enough to be themselves.
After Picture Day
Galleries are typically ready approximately two to three weeks after Picture Day. Your school will send families the private gallery link, password, ordering dates, and instructions.
Each child will have a private album containing their best images. Families may choose a package or order individual prints and digital downloads. There is no minimum purchase requirement.
All ordering takes place online. Print orders will be delivered to your child’s school a few weeks after the ordering period closes.

Is registration required?
Yes. Every family must complete the registration form, even if they select no for the model release.
Siblings attending the same school may be included on one form.
Does registration mean I have to purchase photographs?
Not at all. Registration helps me prepare for Picture Day and records your model-release preference. You will view the photographs before deciding whether you would like to purchase anything.
What is the model release?
The model release asks whether photographs of your child may be used by Jenni with an Eye Photography on my website, social media, portfolio, or promotional materials.
Every parent or guardian must select yes or no.
How will I receive my child’s gallery?
Your school will send the gallery link, password, ordering information, and deadline directly to families when the photographs are ready.
Are class photos taken at every school?
Class photos are offered at select schools, as noted in the schedule above. Class photographs are available as a 5x7 print only and are not offered as digital downloads.
What if my child is absent?
Individual makeup sessions are not offered. If your school has a second Picture Day and scheduling allows, the school may be able to arrange for your child to be photographed on the alternate day.
